# Quickstart: Cursor

**You need:** Cursor, and an API key in `RA_API_KEY`.

1. **Get a key.** Sign up at https://app.closefinch.com/sign-up (the Free plan, no card). An owner creates a key in Settings → API keys and picks its scopes: `crm:read` to read, plus `crm:write` and `agents:write` to make changes. Keep it in an environment variable, never in a file you commit:

   ```bash

2. **Add the server** to `.cursor/mcp.json` in the project (or `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for every project):

   ```json

3. **Check it.** Open Settings → MCP and confirm the server shows its tools, then: Check it works: ask the assistant "Who am I in Closefinch?" It calls `ra_whoami` and answers with your organization, role and scopes.
