# Quickstart: ChatGPT

**You need:** a ChatGPT plan that allows custom connectors (developer mode), and a Closefinch account.

1. **Add the connector.** In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps and connectors → Advanced, turn on developer mode, and
   create a connector with the server URL `https://api.closefinch.com/mcp`.
2. **Sign in.** ChatGPT registers itself (RFC 7591) and opens Closefinch's consent screen. You choose what it may
   do. Self-registered apps are marked "not verified" and get capped scopes; you can disconnect it under Settings →
   Connected apps. ChatGPT can't connect with a key; for a key, use
   [Claude Code](https://www.closefinch.com/docs/quickstart/claude-code), [Codex](https://www.closefinch.com/docs/quickstart/codex) or
   [Cursor](https://www.closefinch.com/docs/quickstart/cursor).
3. **Check it.** In a chat with the connector on, ask "Who am I in Closefinch?"

Approving actions stays in the Closefinch app or Slack, never in the chat.
